Antenna Switch

Installation of a manual switch to control the antenna mast for preventive maintenance and esthetics. I have always been unhappy with the antenna mast going up every time I turn on the audio system, even though the radio is not being used. I listen to CD's 90 percent of the time and have read enough posts about broken mast that made this modification worth while.
The switch is installed inline with the antenna power line. The power wire is located at the back of the head unit. It's labeled below in the diagram as F in the grey connector. The wire is colored Black/White. The wire is too short to hook directly to the switch, so it must be extended. I chose to install the switch on the unused button to the left of the dimmer switch. This meant that about 3 ft of wire was needed in each direction. Cut the power wire several inches from it's connector and attach the wire extensions to each end. Run the wire behind the consol to the switch and attach.
Installing the switch in the black button is rather distructive to it, but it will still snap back into place. I drilled a hole through the center and used pliers to break away the extra plastic.
