Aluminum Control Arm Bushings

These are custom aluminum control arm bushings that I made for myself on a lathe. They replaced the stock rubber bushings. The difference is amazing. I already had a rear-sway bar, lowering springs, a steering rack brace and wider wheels and tires; and these bushings still made a very noticeable difference. With the old bushings, during hard corning the Saab would under steer and push through the turn. Making it difficult to carry speed through a tight turn. With the aluminum bushings installed my Saab now holds the front suspension geometry and grips through the turn at a much high speed. My Saab now feels much more balanced during hard cornering. And as far as I know this is the only solid control arm bushing used on a Saab.

The stock bushing is rubber sandwiched between a metal sleeve and center. The rubber allows for substantial movement between the control arm and trailing arm. This compromises the steering geometry during hard cornering. The aluminum bushing is made to the same dimensions of the stock bushing. It must be pressed into place, also like the stock bushings.
No one offers a solid bushing, but I would highly recommend the polyurethane bushings. The installation is not difficult, but a press is required.
