the instructions that are below. SAAB VRK Steering Brace Parts List 10" x 1/2" end threaded pipe 1/4 x 1/2" pipe adapter 3/8" x 2-1/2" standard thread bolt 3/8" nut 3/8" washer 1/4" washers Instructions: Cut the threaded section off one end of the pipe with a hacksaw. Crush the end and flatten it with a hammer. Bend the flattened section about 20 to 25 degrees. Remove the plastic retaining pin from the top center protector flap in the passenger side wheel well. Expand the hole by drilling with a 3/8" bit. Insert the 3/8" bolt thru the washer and into the hole in the wheel well. Thread the nut onto the bolt inside the wheel well, then screw the pipe adapter on the bolt followed by the pipe adaptor. (Note that the 3/8" bolt is not an exact thread match to the 1/4" end of the adaptor. Since the adaptor is soft metal, I just forced it to "re-thread" to the bolt). Tighten until the flat section of the pipe is parallel to the firewall. Mark the location of the center of the rack clamp bolt directly under the flattened section of pipe. Remove the pipe and the bolt that holds down the steering rack clamp. Drill a 1/4" hole in the flattened section of the pipe where it is marked. Re-assemble the pipe section and replace the top clamp bolt while the brace pipe is positioned directly over the clamp hole. Several 1/4" washers may be needed to get the bolt alignment correct. Cost: $5 Time: 1-2 hours Difficulty: Moderate |
